BOOKREPORT EXTENTION

School has been very crazy. It is rapidly approaching the end of the year, and we are tying up the loose ends. Due to the amount of work that needs to be completed before the end of the year, this months book report will be due before the last day of school this year (instead of the 19th of April.) It will be our last book report.

END OF UNIT 5

We have reached the end of unit 5. We will be taking the assessment on Friday. We will have no spelling or vocabulary this week.

Writing Assignment Due April 20

Research Paper

This assignment will take the place of the Paragraph of the Week Assignment. It is due April 20, 2011.

The class has been learning a lot about how to research, and then write about the topic. As part of the “Give Me Liberty” Program they will need to write a research report about one of the following topics:

· The Gettysburg Address

· Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech

· Emancipation Proclamation

· Civil Rights Movement

· The Women’s Suffrage Movement

· Prohibition

· Or another topic approved by the teacher

The students will be graded the same way they are graded on the weekly writing assignments.

Focus on the five elements of good writing. You will get 5 points each.

__ 2. Clearly reworked rough draft Signature of adult who proofread your composition for PRESENTTION
