Writing Assignment Jan 24-28


Persuasive Essay: And the Winner Is ..

All 5th grade students in the state of Utah are required to take a writing test in February. The writing test will be the students’ response to a persuasive writing prompt. Students need to be able to develop their own opinions, and express their opinions in writing. It does need to be in 5 paragraph essay form. For the next few weeks students will be practicing responding to persuasive writing prompts for their Paragraph a Week. Remember 5 Paragraph Essays

Suppose that your school is a finalist for a major award for the ...best school in your area. Describe what it is about your school that makes it special, and persuade the judges with reasons why you think your school should win this award. Be sure to develop your response fully.

The New Principal


Adam Baker
Principal Enterprise Elementary School



The Washington County School District Board of Education is please to announce the Selection of Adam Baker as the new Principal of Enterprise Elementary School. He will replace Evan Johnson who retired in December.

Adam grew up in Washington County and attended schools in the area. Upon completion of high school he went on to complete the requirements to become an elementary school teacher, attending both Dixie College and Southern Utah University. He has taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades in Alpine and Washington County School Districts. While teaching he continued to pursue educational goals and completed a graduate level program through Utah State University. In 2006 Adam and his family embarked on a new adventure in their lives and moved to Cache Valley where he became the principal of Lewiston Elementary. Adam has enjoyed working with the students, parents, school staff, and community at Lewiston.

Personally Adam is married to Martha Everett and they have six children, five girls and one boy. Adam and his family enjoy spending time together. They have enjoyed living in Cache Valley, especially during the summer where they love to be outside where they can hike, camp, and run!! As a family they are excited to begin a new adventure at Enterprise Elementary and also to be moving closer to home!
