This next writing assignment will be given two weeks to complete. It needs to be the students very best work. It can be more than a paragraph. It is a very important topic and needs to be treated as such.
Veterans Day
On November 11, we celebrate Veteran’s Day, in honor of those who have served our country. This year our school is putting on a program for the Veterans in our community. Mr. Johnson having a writing contest in conjunction with the program and has asked all 5th graders to participate.This week in English you are to write an essay in honor of our veterans.
The deadline for the contest is November 5th!
REMEMBER:
___ Have an introduction, with a lead that pulls the reader in.
___ Have a body that includes details focusing on Voice and Word choice.
___ Have a conclusion that wraps things up and satisfies the reader.
___ clearly reworked rough draft
___ final is neat and written in ink
___ signature of adult who helped you proofread your work for content and PRESENTATION
___ all three papers stapled together with final on top
